The warm friendly atmosphere of the Pottsville Yoga Center will convince you that you've found the
right place to nurture your mind, body and spirit. Classes are accessible to students of all ages and body types.
The use of a wide range of props allows students to access poses regardless of their current fitness level. Each class
is an all levels class with instruction provided for beginners as well as more advanced students.
Classes
are offered in Kripalu and Vinyasa style yoga. Students learn to use the breath as an integral part of yoga practice.
Each class ends with a period of guided meditation and deep relaxation.
There are also Gentle
Yoga classes offered specifically for people with Multiple Sclerosis. These classes are sponsored by the Delaware Valley
Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Seated Yoga classes are offered at the
Michael Close and Patterson Buildings in Pottsville. These classes are modified yoga classes which include a series
of movements to gently increase the range of motion in the joints and to stretch and strengthen the muscles. The entire class
is done seated in a chair. It is ideal for senior citizens and those with movement restrictions.
Classes are taught by Beth Shields who has been practicing yoga for 15 years and teaching yoga for 6 years.
She is a certified yoga teacher, having received her 200 hour certification at the Sanktuary in Lansdale, PA. Beth is
also a Reiki Master in the Usui System of Reiki Natural Healing.
